No surprise that living in the mountains makes me long to go where the air is heavy with salt and the land beneath my feet leads to all things ocean... So when my sister voiced her desire to go to Alaska, I wasn't all about that trip. Bora Bora was more to my liking. I wanted her to have the vacation she wanted so I relented. Glory Hallelujah am I glad I did!
Alaska is a US owned jewel that rivals anywhere I've been. There is something for everybody. The majesty of the mountains and the glaciers is just the tip of the "iceberg", yes those too. How about a rail trip to the Canadian border with goats hanging on the side of the mountains and wooden bridges spanning the land masses. Raft on the waters of the Mendenhall Glacier or take a helicopter ride , how about dog sledding on a glacier? Bear watching, kayaking, fijord passes, shopping, hiking...whatever your heart desires you'll find in Alaska.
